A Few Facts About Me Posted on 2023-09-162024-02-21 By Cath B I am originally from Sweden and was raised in Malmo. My name, Akesson (pronounced ach-i-son), is fairly common in my home country. “Åke” is a Swedish male name, and “Åkesson” means “Åke’s Son.” In the United Kingdom, however, the Akesson surname has a more substantial historical presence, dating back to the ancient county of Berwickshire in Scotland. Akesson’s family motto, “Ane Chast Arbor,” translates to “One Pure Tree.” My entrepreneurial inclination stems from my father’s accomplishments. He harboured an innate passion for entrepreneurship and eventually established his successful enterprise while abstaining from working for someone else. Listening to him speak about his business and his ideas has made me realise our shared traits, despite my past feelings of being misunderstood about my work ethic and why I could never settle with a regular job. I worked in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the esteemed retail company Tiger during my professional tenure. Under the guidance of the company’s founder, Mr Lennart Lajboschitz, a Danish entrepreneur, I learnt the nuances of successful leadership and salesmanship. The Lajboschitz family, who held significant property interests in the city, also graciously allowed me to rent a flat and relocate to Denmark. It was a valuable experience that enhanced my professional skillset and helped me grow my confidence. In 2007, I tried to establish my own music booking agency by reaching out to various venues across Europe. One hotel and restaurant in Iceland took heed of my inquiry and responded to my email. Initially intrigued by their response, I was invited to visit their magnificent establishment and put forth my idea. Although the agreement did not materialize, I relished invaluable insights gained throughout this incredible educational opportunity. On the 24th of April 2009, I had a life-saving operation caused by a twisted colon and endometriosis, and I woke up with a colostomy bag on my belly. Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened the same day; my brother found our beloved mother dead in her home. From that moment, my life was never the same. My partner and I own an Old English Traditional Pub in the charming village of Seagry in Wiltshire. Our establishment is proud to offer an authentic pub experience to all our customers, whether locals or visitors. We believe that our pub serves a vital role in providing a place for people to come and enjoy a drink and as a hub for community spirit and socialisation.* As someone deeply interested in spiritual phenomena, I’ve had several paranormal experiences. I was raised by a mother who shared my sensitivity to the spiritual world and could see and hear apparitions. My natural intuition has allowed me to sense and interact with entities that others might not be aware of. It was particularly notable when I lived in Copenhagen, where I had regular “interactions” with spirits in my home, and due to these experiences, I’m truly a believer in the spiritual world. – Cath B *As of January 22 2024, my partner and I are no longer the owners of the New Inn at Seagry. We realised that the pub trade was not our purpose nor joy and sold the lease.
